Wyoming's Court Clerks

Each county in Wyoming has court clerks.  Their job is to keep records of all active cases and collect fees for civil cases.  While they may help you with many things, they may not help you with your case as a lawyer would.  Very strict rules outline what they are able to do.

Can do

  • Collect court fees for civil cases
  • Take your documents that you need to file for your case
  • Sell pro se packets to you
  • Tell you how to file a form (NOT how to fill it out)
  • Sell you copies of papers from your case
  • Notarize your papers

Can't do

  • Give you legal advice
  • Tell you what you should do in your case
  • Help you fill out forms
  • Tell you if your forms are correct
  • Tell you what will happen to your case
  • Pass messages to the judge
  • Set up a meeting with the judge
